Equipment failure caused by voltage instability can cost companies thousands of pounds in time and money every year. The new Voltage Performance Monitor (VPM) from Ideal Industries gives building maintenance personnel, IT professionals and electricians a cost-effective solution to test voltage quality quickly and easily.
In recent years a massive rise in the number of non-linear loads
English Thermal Imaging specialists, Thermoteknix Systems Ltd are regarded as one of the world
Since 2002, customers worldwide have avoided failures of their equipment, from vital production equipment to the office air conditioning, by using Artesis
Hansford Sensors Ltd. has recently selected an alternative 12mm connector style, the M12, as offering the best combination of performance and price. The result - today, you can specify either the standard MS series or the M12 connector on most of their range of vibration sensors.
The main advantages of the M12 connector are its physically smaller size, associated cable assemblies have a tighter bend radius and it is a well accepted and proven connector used across many industries including process control, automation and sensing. They are particularly suitable for use in vibration monitoring equipment, the IP67/68 sealing making them usable in difficult environmental conditions often found in maintenance condition monitoring applications.
With its wide use in industrial electronic equipment, the cost-effective connectors and numerous cable assemblies are readily available from electrical distributors worldwide making 'off-the-shelf' delivery a reality.
Rustem Yildiz is maintenance manager responsible for the Gebze plant which supplies Daimler-Chrysler, Ford, Toyota and Honda on a Just-in-Time basis. From his office, he can access data on the current condition of all the equipment monitored by the Artesis MCM units, and is automatically notified of any changes in status, indicating a potential deterioration in performance. In addition to the excellent downtime figures, he measures the success of the system by a significant improvement in his homelife, resulting from a dramatic reduction in the number of out of hours calls he receives, that previously had disrupted his evenings.
In his opinion, key elements behind the success have been:
Shell U.K. Limited has been operating an onshore telemetry wide area network in NE Scotland since the mid-1980s. The network, extending southwards from Shell
Tuff Spun is one of a range of anti-fatigue mattings, launched by Plastic Extruders Ltd (Plastex). The matting provides an effective solution designed to meet a health initiative of The Trades Union Congress. This is aimed at encouraging employers to improve the health of employees who normally stand for long periods on hard floors
Tuff Spun comprises high quality closed cell PVC foam with a ribbed slip resistant surface which induces muscle flexing in the legs and calf, improves personal well-being and significantly reduces standing fatigue. University research for Plastex on standing fatigue showed a 10% reduction in just one hour. The matting is recommended for all areas where workers must stand, such as workstations, packaging and processing areas. Tuff Spun Plus is similar but with yellow edges for safety demarcation.
