New EJBC series explosion-proof enclosures for gas group IIC of Cortem Group

The new enclosures of the EJBC series are characterized by a multi-step joint that allows the installation in areas with danger of explosion and/or fire due to the presence of all the Gases of Group IIA - IIB - IIC classified as Zone 1, 2, 21, 22.

This is the element that distinguishes the new EJBC series enclosures from the historic EJB series enclosures characterized instead by a flat flanged joint and suitable for the IIB + H2 gas group.

Guide to Certifications

Environments where flammable gas, vapors, combustible dusts or fibers are present increase the risk of explosion. Equipment manufacturers are responsible for designing and obtaining certification for equipment to meet safety standards in these high-risk areas.

Multiple systems exist for safety standards around the world. All systems cover Gas, Dust, and Fibers but each is classified slightly different and there is some overlap. Europe has standards set by IECEx/ATEX but many countries throughout the world participate in the IECEx scheme. North America and Canada are covered by NEC and CEC standards.

Airbench Releases Vertex VX – Cross-Draught System For Hazardous Areas

AirBench, the UK’s leading manufacturer of downdraught benches and cross-draught systems, is pleased to announce the release of VertEx VX – an ATEX rated version of the popular VertEx cross-draught system.

Suitable for zone 22 applications, VX uses the same principles as the VA range but applies ATEX fans and electrical systems alongside fully earthed filtration.

Aggregating Combustible Dust Incidents from Around the World

For the fifth year in a row, the team at Dust Safety Science has compiled and analyzed combustible dust incidents from around the world.

As of December 31, 2020, they captured almost 1000 incidents in their  incident reports along with a detailed analysis of the materials, industries and equipment involved.

NEBOSH partners with Health and Safety Executive to launch new risk management qualification.

NEBOSH has partnered with Great Britain’s regulator, the Health and Safety Executive, to launch an introductory qualification that provides straightforward, practical health and safety risk management skills.

The NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work is rooted in a proportional approach to risk; it provides the fundamentals people need to build an effective approach to risk management in their workplace that focuses not only on the risk assessment itself, but on the practical actions needed to control and monitor those risks in order to protect people from harm.

Water jetting ‘game changer’ moves training up a level

The first competency qualification for water jetting has been launched in a move the Water Jetting Association describes as a game changer.

The new Level 2 Water Jetting Technician Certificate is accredited by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE), which is regulated by Ofqual.

The Water Jetting Association (WJA), the member organisation for the UK water jetting industry, has created it to support the upskilling of operatives, improving productivity and safety.

UK Government invests £95m in new offshore wind ports

The UK Government is set to invest £95 million in two new offshore wind ports.

Able Marine Energy Park in the Humber has been awarded up to £75 million, whilst £20 million is going to the Teeswork site in Teesside. Construction at both sites will begin later this year. The two ports will have the capacity to support the development of up to 9GW of offshore wind projects each year, according to the government.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “The Humber and Teesside will put the wind in the sails of our new green industrial revolution, building the next generation of offshore wind turbines whilst creating 6000 new green jobs in the process.

EUCHNER SAFETY UPGRADE SAFEGUARDS PRODUCTION OF WET WIPES

In response to the soaring demand for hygienic products for use in the fight against covid-19, the world’s most innovative wet wipes manufacturer Nice-Pak turned to Euchner, a leading international specialist in safety engineering, to deliver a safety system upgrade in a strict timeframe for a converting machine that was being overhauled at its production plant in Flint, North Wales.

As a result of increased production demands, machine utilisation and uptime are a critical KPI at Nice-Pak. Consequently, the engineering teams were given a very short installation window to undertake a significant machinery refurbishment with the overall objective of producing a more reliable and intuitive machine.

The ULTIMA® X5000 Gas Monitor is the future of gas detection.

Featuring MSA XCell® gas sensors with TruCal® technology that corrects sensor drift and offers calibration cycles up to 24 months. The gas transmitter's advanced, multi-lingual OLED display is easy to read and the unique touch-screen interface makes it simple to navigate. Check also CalGard Remote Calibration Adapter for sensors mounted in difficult to access locations. This unique solution allows for accurate sensor calibrations, as the internal bellows mechanism ensures the calibration gas reaches the sensor, rather than escaping and reducing its concentration.
