Here are a few highlights from ABB Automation & Power World 2011. The event attracted a record number of participants, totaling more than 4,200, and featured over 400 educational workshops and hands-on training sessions, over 45 customer-presented case studies, and an exhibition of ABB and partner products.

Simocode pro Safety provides comprehensive protection, control and communication with motor circuits and process automation.

Enhancements in ProSafe-RS R3.01 include input modules that can directly receive voltage signals from temperature sensors as well as software that restricts the operations performed by engineers.

SiteShield Detection System provides simultaneous gas and flame detection in a single unit and wireless connections.

Infoteam Software will distribute ISaGRAF in Europe, Germany and China.

XP100 motors are UL and CSA listed for gas and dust ignition-proof environments and are suitable for Division 1, Class I, Groups C & D, Class II, Groups F & G, hazardous area classifications.

DeltaV Analyze V2.0 leverages exida’s SILAlarm alarm rationalization software to optimize the DeltaV system’s alarm performance.

Receptacles are suitable for heavy-duty industrial and marine applications, including generator sets, transportable equipment, welding systems, lighting and control systems.

Distributed safety is relatively new, and in the present litigious climate, many end users are reluctant to discuss safety systems. But the process safety market is growing rapidly. Part of this growth will come from distributed safety systems because they provide advantages over centralized safety.
