Are you ready for the new Standards and Certification Requirements for non-electrical equipment and assemblies?

sept-15-m-2Are you ready for the new Standards and Certification Requirements for non-electrical equipment and assemblies?

International Standard ISO 80079-36 and 37 will address for the first time the requirements and protection concepts for mechanical explosion protected equipment (Ex) on an international level. Examples of non-electrical equipment are: couplings, pumps, gearboxes, brakes, hydraulic and pneumatic motors and any combination of devices to realize a machine, fan, engine, compressor or assembly. These Standards will soon be included in the scope of International Certification Schemes such as IECEx (which will remove the ability for manufacturer to self-certify non-electrical equipment and assemblies) and will also become the standards for ATEX Certification (which will still permit a level of self-certification for all but Category 1 equipment unless unit verification is requested).

It is essential that manufacturers of non-electrical equipment and assemblies have the competence to   perform a comprehensive ignition    hazard assessment on the complete mechanical equipment to identify all potential ignition sources and provide appropriate levels of protection where necessary (to be called protection concept ‘Ex h’).

Specialist Help and Technical Training is Available

ExVeritas have created a unique three day training course that specifically addresses the skills required to build competence for non-electrical and assembly risk assessment and certification to ISO 80079-36 and 37 (and current equivalent ATEX Standards). This is a highly technical course, not an overview. It is aimed at designers or project engineers responsible for design compliance or certification of non-electrical equipment or assemblies. Free software is also provided to all delegates to assist with some of the calculations required for non-electrical approval.

Full details of the course can be found at http://www.exveritas.com/atex-and-iecex-non-electrical-equipment-and-assemblies-for-designers/

Next Dates: 2nd – 4th February 2016
Examination: 2 hour written, with calculations, data sheets for bearings analysis, lubrication analysis etc.
Successful Candidates will be issued a ‘certificate of competence’ in the design of ATEX and IEC non-electrical equipment and assemblies.

ExVeritas have a vast experience of mechanical risk assessment, failure mode analysis, SIL and safety systems and mechanical engineering safety. We have provided such services to some of the largest global oil tool and assembly manufacturers over the last 20 years, and provide UKAS accredited ATEX Notified Body non-electrical certification.

Please contact us for further information on this course or ATEX and IECEx Non-Electrical Equipment and Assemblies Certification.
