Altitude™ Height Safety

sept-15-m-18Altitude™ Height Safety

Many professions, work environments and tasks involve activity above or even below ground level, meaning workers are exposed to the risk of falling a distance liable to cause injury – or even death.

As well as a moral obligation to ensure those workers’ safety, employers must comply with myriad legal duties with regard to work at height. (Read More)

Training is a crucial part of compliance, as employers must understand how to plan and manage work at height safely so that workers can carry it out without incurring harm to themselves, or causing it to others.

Altitude™ Height Safety – a brand new company within the JSP Group – is dedicated to providing quality height safety and rescue training for all industry sectors. The company recently launched an initial programme of five courses covering the main elements of working at height for employers and their workers.

  • Introduction to working at height – a half-day, classroom-based session that provides a comprehensive overview for those new to working at height. The course helps delegates identify the safest and most suitable work methods and equipment via risk assessment and the hierarchy of controls.
  • Personal fall protection equipment: selection, use and maintenance – this half-day, classroom-based course covers selection, safe use and appropriate inspection and maintenance regimes for a range of fall-protection equipment. Correct fitting and adjustment of safety harnesses and pre-use checking of equipment are also addressed.
  • Inspection of personal fall protection equipment – a full day course comprising theory and practice this is aimed at those responsible for conduction three or six-monthly recorded inspections of harness, lanyards and fall-arresters.
  • Planning and managing work at height – this full-day course is suitable for those who plan, manage or supervise work-at-height activity and covers hazard identification, risk assessment, accident reporting, inspection and maintenance regimes and planning for rescue.
  • Rescue from height – it is imperative that employers and sites have plans in place to deal with emergencies at height, so this full-day, practical course gives delegates the knowledge and skills to rescue someone who, in the event of a fall, is incapacitated, suspended, or in a position requiring emergency self-evacuation.

All courses can be held on the client’s site, so there are no travel and accommodation costs for delegates, and time off work is kept to a minimum. Delegates are trained in the environment in which they work, in small groups of six or 12, by experienced JSP tutors.
