For those that work in hazardous environments, finding tools that are fit for the job can be an unenviable task.

They need to be suitable to survive in explosive atmospheres, often containing flammable gases, mists, vapours or combustible dusts. When there is enough of these substances, mixed in a deadly cocktail with air, then all it takes is a source of ignition to cause an explosion. This makes working in such environments a deadly and dangerous affair, especially for workers who require the (Read More)

use of electronics to help assist them with their job. Of course, anyone working in these environments still needs the right tools for the job, which is where the Unilite ATEX lighting range comes in to play.  They won’t just survive in these conditions, but they thrive.

The ATEX range has 5 products, all with their own unique features and benefits. One thing that they all have in common is that they provide the maximum protection, which safeguards them for use in Zone 0 environments. This is made possible through the addition of a safety release valve, which releases hydrogen gases from the torch before they become a danger. In addition, all torches feature a safety locking battery compartment, keeping the batteries out of contact of any hazardous substances.

Within the range, there are 2 Head torches (ATEX-H1, ATEX-H2), 1 flashlight (ATEX-FL4), 1 penlight (ATEX-PL1) and 1 right angle torch (ATEX-RA2), giving you a light for almost any task. These have all been designed with the user in mind, packed with ergonomic features to make using them a breeze. For the handheld products, they feature a rubberised grip, helping you to use them comfortably, whilst also providing additional protection against knocks and falls that are common in industrial settings. For the headlights, they have fully adjustable silicone headbands, giving the user a comforting fit when wearing them.

The entire ATEX range uses high powered CREE LEDs, providing a consistent and formidable light output which can be relied upon time and time again. All the lights also have ultra-smooth reflectors which help to extend the range of the light beyond their conventional boundaries.

As a welcome result of having created such intrinsically safe torches, they are all highly waterproof and dustproof. All but the ATEX-RA2 have been accredited with an IP67 rating, meaning they can be fully submerged for 1m and have complete protection against dust. Even the ATEX-RA2 has an IP54 rating, giving it a high amount of protection again both of these hazards that would traditionally interfere with a standard torches operational functionality.

It is for these reasons above that the ATEX range has been extensively used by the fire service, petroleum industry, power stations and haulage companies, becoming a trusted supplier that can be relied upon time and time again. If you work in hazardous environments and want to give yourself and your colleagues the best possible protection again these dangers, then look no further than the Unilite ATEX range to be your guiding light and your personal companion.
