On Friday 29th January 2010 Belzona, a global manufacturer of protective coatings and polymer repair composites proved their faith in their products by ‘flying’ a top of the range Mercedes SL500 AMG class 2 metres over another Mercedes S class by a joint bonded with Belzona product.
Half an hour prior to the stunt, Belzona 1251 (HA Metal), a single component heat activated repair material was applied by hand to a small circular area with the diameter of 75mm². This was then used to create the joint which would later take the weight of car which was just over 2 tonnes. The joint was attached from a crane which then later was used to suspend the car.
This exciting stunt has been a global initiative with it taking place at Belzona corporate offices around the world ranging from Harrogate, UK to Miami, Florida. Each of the stunts have been part of the 2010 Distributor meetings which aim to provide an important platform for Belzona Distributors to network, share experiences and engage in an open exchange of ideas and information. Belzona currently operates through a global distribution network of over 140 Distributors operating in 120 countries.
The stunts mark the beginning of exciting new initiatives at Belzona with the main goal to enhance its global presence and remain a market leader. The ‘Flying Car’ is just the beginning as Belzona has many more surprises planned for the next coming years, however this was certainly a great way to kick start the year 2010!
Belzona was supported in this event by Emsley Crane Hire and Unusual Expert Rigging Services.
