Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Farnborough from February 5th to 7th 2019. Now firmly settled into its new permanent venue, the show is moving into its third decade as arguably the most popular annual engineering exhibition in the UK. (Read More)

The organisers, European Trade & Exhibition Services, are projecting a 20% rise in exhibitors for 2019, which will bring the event to its maximum capacity. The new, more comfortable and well-equipped surroundings of the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre and improved access make a visit to the show an altogether more pleasant experience than many of the UK’s other major exhibition venues. Given the show’s proximity to a good proportion of the UK’s aerospace, marine and medical technology manufacturing sectors, the organisers are hoping for a commensurate rise on visitor numbers which would take the show past the symbolic 10K visit milestone.

Southern’s signature feature is the incredible diversity of engineering suppliers taking part, making it one of the best shows in the country to source components or specialist engineering expertise from home and abroad. It’s no exaggeration to say that no matter what you are looking for, you’ll almost certainly find it at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics.

Among an expected 800 exhibiting companies it is hard to single out the highlights, but some names will certainly stand out as being of interest to those working to mitigate risk in working environments. Filtermist International, with its leading range of oil and MWF filtration systems, makes a welcome return to Southern Manufacturing for 2019. New exhibitor Dustcontrol UK provides high quality cyclone-based fixed dust extraction equipment, portable dust extractors and accessories for industrial and construction use. ACE Fabreeka UK provides motion and vibration control solutions, including industrial shock absorbers, safety shock absorbers, TUBUS profile dampers, rotary dampers, hydraulic dampers/feed controls and industrial gas springs.

Brady returns to highlight its wide range of products for identification and safety applications such as signs and markers, labelling materials and tools for wire and cable marking. There are numerous other firms providing marking equipment and traceability solutions, among them Pryor Marking, suppliers of permanent marking equipment and component tracking software. SIC Marking will showcase its portable e-mark and integrated e-smart dot peen markers which can be used in the automated identification and traceability of industrial components.

One of the show’s key developments for 2019 is the involvement of several influential industry organisations for the first time, including among others, Composites UK and the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium. One of the benefits of these collaborations is the feed-in of specialist technical expertise to show features such as the free technical seminar programme. Advanced engineering materials and techniques are an increasingly important aspect of the show, and an area with many applications in hazardous area engineering. Some of the exhibitors showcasing their work in this area include Rochling Engineering Plastics, which will be highlighting the potential of EtroX V, an engineering plastic of unusual durability, and Industrial Plastic Fabrications, specialists in techniques such as diffusion bonding and 3D printing.

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 is of course also a good show to see the latest machine tool technologies from firms such as Bystronic UK, C. Dugard, Haas, Yamazaki Mazak, CMZ, Matsuura and others. 2019 sees the return of some other noteworthy names. Citizen Machinery UK will exhibit for the first time since 2007, accompanied by other former participants that include Mitutoyo (UK), SCHMIDT Technology, Rapid Electronics and LNS Turbo to name a few. Fresh new exhibitors for 2019 include Instrutec Controls, Oemeta UK and Polydist UK.

Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre offers free car parking for 3,500 vehicles and is well-served by road and public transport links. A regular free shuttle bus service operates from both of Farnborough’s mainline railway stations directly to the show. The venue itself offers a high standard of facilities including a free WiFi service in the foyer area and high quality catering outlets.

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019 opens from February 5th to 7th. Admission to the show is free. More information and tickets are available from
